I've done a bit of research and testing re this but can't quite crack it,time as a busy father is scarce!

Basically i wish to create AVCHD discs for playback on blu-ray player from MKV files that are around 8gb in size.

I'm using 8.5gb discs so i can't exceed that size.

Therefore i want to convert WITHOUT increasing file size,happy to shrink it if required (a la dvd shrink) but without detectable quality loss,but ideally a straight conversion retaining original file size would be best .

Maybe i need to create an image file and burn straight to disc with img burn?

Expert help please.
