I have recently bought a cheap BD player (Panasonic DMP-BD45) and have been attempting to convert some mkv files I have on the PC to AVCHD format, and burn on DVDR to playback on the player...
Using the guide found here on AD I have used GotSent for this, and it runs fine to the end and creates the output folders...
I did a small 20-25min file to start with to test, whose output folder was about 3gb and so I burned to DVDR and it played perfect on the bluray player...
Great quality, audio was 5.1 and in sync etc.. All perfect!
So then I tried a full 90min file and it outputted a file that was about 7gb so it would fit onto a DVDR-DL, so I burnt it off, nice and slow, and although the picture quality was great, the playback was very choppy, it was juddering badly when there is any motion at all...
So I loaded up Total media theatre on the PC and played the folder direct on the PC and it plays perfectly on the pc.. nice and smooth!
The DVDR and DVDR-DL I have are both the same brand, so I reburnt incase it was a bad burn but it was still the same...
So I did it again and this time put a cut in at 4gb and burnt the first half to a single sided DVDR and that plays fine also...
Does anyone know why the bluray player is struggling to play AVCHD from a DVD-DL but plays it fine from a single sided DVDR, even though the same brand disc??
I would have thought if its powerful enough to play a proper BD, then it should handle a DVDR-DL??
