For some reason my sony bravia wont acknowledge either my acer laptop or acer netbook but it will pickup my friend's hp mini netbook. I never had a problem with connecting my acer to other hdtvs, so im kinda lost. Im using a vga connection. Any help would be appreciated.

Look at this guide, you might have to adjust the TV's/Laptop's settings:

thanks for the help and sorry for me replying so late. I havent gotten a chance to try it out cause things have been pretty hectic for me but when i do i'll let you know if it worked. thanks again, really appreciate it.
My friend also ask me about this one. she also has an acer laptop. I haven't told this guide to her yet so any luck?

i figured out how to get an acer laptop to work, havent tried a netbook yet. When the acer fully boots up, the last thing to load is some acer management toolbar(it backs up the laptop and offers additional settings). One of the options on the toolbar is a display setting. Click on that and switch the display to projector setting. At that point the bravia should pickup the laptop signal, but youre not done yet. Then you can go to the regular display settings found in the control panel and adjust the resolution till it looks crispy
