HDMI audio issues, w/ cable box / TV / PS3...HELP

I have a Motorola QIP6200-2 set top box. It is HDMI wired to my older Panasonic TV using only the HDMI cable and works fine. I also have a Sony PS-3 game console. It is HDMI wired to my TV with only the HDMI cable. Rather than continue to switch cables, I purchased a Monoprice HDX-401TA HDMI 4 port switcher. I have 3 HDMI cables, all tested, all good. If I install the switch, the PS-3 is fine to the TV. The signal from the Set Top Box, when run through the switch, looses audio. If I disco the STB from the switch and plug direct to TV, all is fine. Can you think of any reason that may explain why the switch will not see or pass audio from the STB but my TV will see it? What are the specs of a HDMI out put connector signal? I have asked Motorola and switch co. if compatable and waiting for answer. Thanks for any help.
