5.03 gen-c won't install after downgrading.

I run a PSP 3000 that was originally at 6.35 OFW. Since I was wanting to get gamepad support for remotejoy I decided to downgrade my PSP, which worked, since it's now at 5.03. I've managed to get chickhen mod installed, and then I tried to get 5.03 gen-c to install. It will try to install itself, but when it reboots, it ends up back on the 5.03 OFW.

As an experiment I tried using 5.03 gen-a, and despite having success with it in the past, that no longer seems to be the case. The CFW installed, but when it restarted, it was back at the OFW. Don't know if it helps any, but I only found out after trying a few times that I had to hold onto the left shoulder button to get it to install properly, but even after doing that, it still rebooted under OFW. Is there anything I can do to get my PSP to run gen-c?
