Magic Gate Memory Stick is a memory card for the psp (game saves, ect..)

Pandora battery is a battery that forces the PSP to enter into recovery mode every time the PSP is turned on(also allows you to install custom firmware(cfw)to run homebrew, or to fix a failed update)

Magic gate is a special routine in original Sandisc or Sony memory sticks, I think you mean a Magic Memory Stick. Magic Memory Sticks are specially formatted to let PSP 1000 and earlier PSP 2000 models go into recovery mode, when used with a Pandora Battery. You can create one without a PSP, just google for Magic Memory Stick Maker.
A pandora battery is a hard- or softmodded battery, that allows you to enter recovery mode on a bricked PSP 1000 or early PSP 2000 (pre TA-088v3 motherboard version). You can get a pandora battery for around 5 US$ in several china seller shops, for example Dealextreme. It also allows you to install custom firmwares on these PSPs, but you don't need it anymore for that.

Don't you have a PSP 3000? If yes, a pandora battery won't work on it. Just go to psp.dashhacks.com and get the latest 6.60 PRO firmware from their download section. It's not permanent, every time you switch your PSP off it reverts back to 6.60 Original. There is no permanent cfw for PSP 3000.

But will cfw damage my psp? Like is there any risk? And are there instructions to how to install it? Because I certainly don't know anything about it

There is ALWAYS a risk involved, but a) at the moment you are at a point that you either go with it or keep on playing originals only and b) on PSP 3000 with non-permanent firmware the risk is relatively low, as long as you don't do anything stupid. There should be a readme enclosed in the download describing where to put the files, other than that you start the non-permanent cfw just like you do with a normal game.
