Anyone know what would be the best graphics card to play BF3 will be? £300 budget maybe squeeze some more out. Im partial to a bit of crysis too, so wouldnt mind playing that at full whack.
I'll be looking at xfire/sli in a few months too, of course i can get two decent cards on this budget

Also physx, is this Nvidia only, an is it worth having.

Cheers

if you have a GTX460/Radeon 5870 or newer series card i highly doubt you'll need to upgrade anything.

Yes, and no, in that order.

BF3 will probably be quite a demanding game, but how much graphics power you need will depend on what sort of frame rate you're looking for, what resolution you use and what detail level you'll accept. If you just need the game to run at all, and aren't worried about it being very smooth, or on high detail, and use a small display, you won't need much.
If you want the game on high or maximum settings on a large monitor with a silky smooth frame rate (60+) though, you'll need some serious graphics performance.

BF3 is likely to require the use of a quad core processor, so if you don't have one already, you will need to take care of that before you buy a powerful graphics card.

Base on high quality setting

Choppy (30fps average), small monitor (19", 1440x900): Geforce GTS450 or Radeon HD6750
Moderate (45fps average), HD monitor (23", 1920x1080): Geforce GTX560 or Radeon HD6870
Smooth (60fps minimum), HD monitor (23", 1920x1080): 2x Geforce GTX560 (SLI) or 2x Radeon HD6870 (Crossfire)

These figures are taken from the game's alpha, so the real game will likely be more demanding at full detail, as this does not consider the highest quality setting available in the real title.

If you can afford it, two HD6950s should have you pretty much set for anything, but obviously that's quite a considerable outlay.
