Good thing you cam here:
Mobo - Stay away from ASUS. Your asking for reliability problems.
HDDs - This is a mess. Your getting 2 different sized SSDs and 2 VRaptors? This is pointless. Stick with the 160 GB Intel SSD. Drop the rest and grab a 1 TB WD Caviar Black. Running the extra SSD and VRaptors is a bit of a waste of money. Not that there wouldnt be some performance gains, but nothing worth that much money. The WD 1 TB Caviar Black isnt that far off in terms of performance as a Vraptor, and your getting over 3 time the storage. You might even consider, dropping the 160 GB, get 2x80GB, and a RAID Card, and run them in RAID 0.

CPU - Again a waste of money, get the Core i7 860. With an SSD for your apps,os,and games, and 860 is a great combo speaking personally.

GPU - If your going to get a 5900 series card, get it from the start. Dont bother getting a 5800 series card as your going to waste money in the end.

RAM- Not bad but for a $2K build Id go with a better quality RAM like Corsair,G.Skill or Patriot.

Case - Seems good.

PSU - Dont have one listed here. A 550 watt corsair would be ideal.

OS: Kubuntu 12.10/Windows 8 -- CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K -- Motherboard: MSI P67A-G45 -- Memory: 2x4GB Corsair Dominator -- Graphics Card: Sapphire 4890 Vapor-X -- Monitor: Dell 2208WFP -- Mouse: Mionix NAOS 5000 -- PSU: Corsair 520HX -- Case: Thermaltake Mozart TX -- Cooling: Thermalright TRUE Black Ultra-120 eXtreme CPU Heatsink Rev C -- Hard Drives: 1x180 GB Intel 330 SSD/1xWD 1 TB Caviar Black/1xWD 2 TB Caviar Green/2xWD 3 TB Caviar Green

i just put the 4 hard drives up to show you what i was pondering on, my initial set up was going to be my 2tb wd external as my main storage the raptor as my main hard drive for speed n performance and the 160SSD for my secondary. what mobo would you suggest? And about the Gfx card i was only going to buy this one if i couldn't find the other cause unfortunately they are hard to come by.

Again a raptor and SSd in the dame build is a waste of money. These are performance drives designed for running your OS,Apps, and games off of.

The 5970 cards are indeed to hard to come by. The 5870 is still a great card, and should be more then sufficient as it is. Its one of the fastest cards on the market as it is. Im just saying if you get a 5970, be patient till newegg or some one gets some in stock.

As for mobo, depends on what cpu your getting.

OS: Kubuntu 12.10/Windows 8 -- CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K -- Motherboard: MSI P67A-G45 -- Memory: 2x4GB Corsair Dominator -- Graphics Card: Sapphire 4890 Vapor-X -- Monitor: Dell 2208WFP -- Mouse: Mionix NAOS 5000 -- PSU: Corsair 520HX -- Case: Thermaltake Mozart TX -- Cooling: Thermalright TRUE Black Ultra-120 eXtreme CPU Heatsink Rev C -- Hard Drives: 1x180 GB Intel 330 SSD/1xWD 1 TB Caviar Black/1xWD 2 TB Caviar Green/2xWD 3 TB Caviar Green

A rather strange looking build really. High-end graphics performance with a basic dual core processor, there's not a lot of sense in that.
Your best bet for a high-end gaming PC is a Core i5 or i7. They aren't expensive, and they are very powerful CPUs.

Something like:
Core i5 750 / i7 860
Gigabyte P55A-UD4
2x2GB Corsair XMS3 PC3 12800 1600mhz CAS9
Radeon HD5870 OR Radeon HD5970 OR 2x HD5850 in Crossfire OR 2x HD5870 in Crossfire (I'll leave this one up to you)
Intel 80GB Gen2 SSD
WD Caviar Black WD1001FALS
