im actually buying a laptop (Max $2000) for gaming ... what are the specs for good gaming experience

core 2 duo or i7 ?

how much ram ?

any good models to suggest ?

Not really. That's a basic low-midrange graphics card, roughly equivalent to the basic $60 cards that go in economy PCs for light gaming and video usage. Core i7 mobile CPUs are pretty good, but you really need something like a mobility radeon HD4870 for genuinely good gaming performance that would match a desktop.

Gaming laptops are generally not a good idea unless you have a large amount of money to waste in one place. Instead I would save your money to buy a standard laptop for school or work and a dedicated desktop for gaming.

Even with unlimited funds, a laptop cannot touch the performance of a good gaming desktop. If you want to play games while on a business trip or something, then this is the only reason I would recomend a gaming laptop.
