My Sapphire 4870 512mb just died on me. It had a Aftermarket cooler so a RMA is out of the question. I just need something around the same power but as cheap as possible. I know the 5770 and 5750 just came out with pretty good benchmarks. should I get a 5750 or another 4870 since the're about the same price. I would get a 5870, but Ill wait for the prices to drop.

If you can afford the 5750, get it.

Well depending on how long of a wait that is, there may already be a whole line of 57XX models ;) So it may be worth the wait.

Get a 5850 - much better value than the 5870, and to be honest, better value than the 5770 as well. It's 85% of a 5870 for 65% of the price. The HD5770 is 60% of the 5870 for 50% of the price.

Really? Do you think I should just wait for the 5870's price to go down or just get a 5850? I might just wait till christmas either way.. My 4830 is still very good for what im playing on m TV. Batman, nfs shift and somewhat red faction.

The 5850 is around 2.5x as fast as a 4830 at least. The 5870 is only another 15% on top.

DAMN! 2.5 times faster?? I knew it was an upgrade but.. Ill defenatley be getting the 5850 or 5870 around christmas. I doubt Nvidia can top these 2 card. Maybe with overall power, but not with power cumsumption and overall Price/Performance ratio which matters most to us "non-rich people" =D

From what I hear, nvidia are seriously late to the party this time. It may be approaching easter before their DX11 cards are widely available without stock issues.

Wow, reallY? I was hearing that they'll be out later this year. too bad. (ATI fan anyway) How do you thing Nvidia's gonna do compared to these 58XX cards in terms of price/performance, consumption and heat/noise? just want your opinion

I doubt they'll be revolutionary for efficiency, but they should be a little bit faster than the 5800 series currently is, though knowing nvidia they'll be overpriced, at least at first. By the time they're mainstream though who knows, there may even be a 5890.

yeah, I can see the fastest card beating the 5870 by like 5-10% but costing 600$. Theres still those people who know nothing about computers who are gonna triple SLI them to get 500fps in crysis costing almost 2,000 dollars.

Probably more like 20% I would guess, but at least $500.
