Is there any option to upgrade the HP Envy to a 1080p screen? That is the most powerful laptop there, next followed by the Dell XPS16. Overall, I think the Dell is the best bet if the screens aren't changeable because GT330M graphics on the Sony are much too weak and GT240 will be just as bad. 1366x768 screens are pretty awful, and the i5 and i3 CPUs are only dual cores. If you use a laptop you probably have external storage so the difference between 320GB and 500GB on the hard disk isn't too much, though the small drives are only present on the weaker laptops anyway.

yea i dont really care about storage too much. unfortunately im in the uk so the max resolution i can get is the 1366x768. i think the US gets the 1080p resolution.i really liked the Sony but the graphics card was disappointing, if only i could change it.

is the difference between the GT330 and 4670 large? cos when i looked at the benchmarks they were only a few points apart.

argh theres always one thing that is wrong.

The HD4670 is about 40-50% faster than the GT330M. Add to that that Geforce mobile GPUs are prone to failure after a couple of years, makes the 4670 a much safer bet.

A strange regional variation, that. I'm also in the UK and find the laptop market a bit meh for games performance, which is why I don't own one.

yea i know what you mean, it kinda sucks. i would just go ahead and build a pc which would cost a lot less, but im unsure about whether im going to stay in the country so i dont want to bother about shipping it across the world.
