Hey guys. I'm not to familiar in dealing with Motherboards. I would like to find the best possible Motherboard compatible with my computer hardware I have right now. I have listed most of all my specifications on my Pc below. If there is anything else needed to please get back with me. Looking to spend around $80 which can be flexible if needed.

Pc Specifications -

Processor - AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ 3.1ghz
Socket Size - AM2
Video Card - 8800 GT 512mb - DDR3 - PCI-E
RAM - 4GB DDR2 240-pin DIMM
Power Supply - 500w

I don't know how to find out what my current Motherboard is. I am guessing its pretty bad since it's from Dell. I am currently searching www.newegg.com
I have been looking at this Motherboard here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131595
I am still not 100% sure that its compatible or if its the best buy I can get. I apperciate any help!

ASUS quality has taken a turn for the worse over the past few years. I would suggest you take a good look at the Gigabyte boards. One contender might be their GA-MA770-UD3

Thank you for the reply. I will look into both of these boards further. Just a couple questions though. Are these boards guaranteed to fix into my computer? I really don't know if size is an issue. Another thing, I don't know if this will call for a different Motherboard, but if by any chance will eather of these Motherboards you and I posted be able to support a quad core?

If you need a smaller board, you can try the GA-MA78LM-S2H. It will hold two sticks of DDR2 memory (up to a total of 8GB), but I'm not sure if any of the micro ATX boards will take an X4 processor. I will need to defer to others who are more familiar with the AMD line than I am.

I recently had to upgrade amy MB/CPU/Mem combo because of a crash. I have been a big fan of ASUS boards for a long time and have used them in many many builds. I recently bought a Gigabyte MA785GMT-UD2H which I paired with a Phenom II x3 720 Black ed. processor and 4GB of Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1333 memory. So far (about 2 months) I really like this motherboard. I have used Gigabyte MB's in the past and never had any issues, but since I was such an ASUS fan this was the first time I had ever used a Gigabyte in my own system. HOWEVER, this motherboard is AM3 only and will not work with your processor. The MB you picked should be compatible, but take a look at the AM2 line of Gigabyte MB's as well.
