Whats the difference between low profile GPU and High profile gpu? My gpu is an hd 4890 zdec and I think it's not a low profile gpu.

Which is better? high or low profile? Thanks.

a low profile gpu is smaller than other gpus, and generally has lower performance. your 4890 is not a low profile gpu.

High profile:

Low profile:

Notice it's half the height.
You can't buy low profile cards much more powerful than this. High end cards like the 4890 are all high profile.

Oh cuz I heard quadro cards are low profile, but their the highest end.. so I guess their high profile. They do look slim in pictures though.

It's not the GPU,, or even the board. It's the cooler that is low or high profile.

Correction killerbug, the cooler is irrelevant, a card can have a dual slot cooler and be low profile. It is the PCB that needs to be low profile, as low profile refers to a half-width PCB that will fit in a micro case.
Neither of those Quadros Xplorer posted are low profile. Please get your facts straight guys. LOW PROFILE DOES NOT MEAN A SINGLE SLOT COOLER.

Gera: You don't want a Quadro card for gaming.

half height is one of the slang terms that gets used, but technically 'low profile' is the right one as it matches up with 'low profile' cases.
