i7 920 CPU:
EX58-UD3R Mobo
6GB Corsair XMS3
XFX Radeon HD4870 1GB
WD5000AAKS 500GB HDD
Corsair 650W TX PSU
Antec Three Hundred Illusion

Im going to ignore the noises coming out of my computer for a min. and was wondering about overclocking. Would I need a new heat sink and if so what would you recommend? Is it difficult to do? I seems like I would be foolish not to make my processor faster.

Making a post in the official overclocking thread (Other PC Hardware) would be a good idea for the best advice. A new heatsink is essential for overclocking an i7, my typical recommendation is a Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme (1366RT).

Newegg have never sold any Thermalright products, not sure why. You can buy the cooler from performance-pcs.com.

Thermalright coolers come with their own thermal paste but for best results you would be better off buying some high-grade stuff like OCZ Freeze, Arctic Cooling MX-2, or Arctic Silver V.
