Hi,
I recently started my computer. It started for a few seconds and then shuts off. I tested the power supply, and it says it is good. Any ideas? Thank you in advanced.

Got another mobo to try? Doesnt hurt to download memtest 86+ and run it either to make sure your RAM is still good.

Did you test the PSU under load? A poorly regulated PSU can look good when it's not under load and then fall on its face after a few seconds of heavy load. Can you swap in a different PSU just for a quick check?

Agreed, poweroffs after a few seconds (rather than instantaneously) usually suggest dodgy connections or a bad PSU.

I agree with the others, but also make sure that there is no overheating, wont hurt to give all ur fans a good service, blow out that nasty dust.

Try to find a decent PSU you can just swap in temporarily to see if it lets the system work better than the PSU you have in there now. Try it after New Years and let us know how it worked.

I got the same problem with my Laptopt a left the battery charging and voila the operating system was gone (operating system not found message) .Now I can't even get it to boot.Is an old laptop that doesn't have a internal optical drive.I'm using a PC CARD DVD-ROM but my BIOS won't let me boot from it.I did a bootable flash drive but the system won't read it, because in the BIOS there's not such thing as USB Boot.
I got 4 options:1.ATAPI CD-ROM Drive 2.-Hard Drive 3.-Removable Devides (LS-120 or FDD)4.-Boot to LAN.
Does anyone know how to boot from a LAN connection,How do i make my PC a server,which program should i use (freeware)?
My Desktop has XP Home Edition SP3 and I have a Netgear Router that would do, but how?
I change the booting sequence to LAN Boot and i got some configuration settings, like:
Boot method: PXE,TCP/IP,Netware and RPL, each one has sub-commands but i don't want to switch them?. Please give me some advise or information about how to make bootable from a source.
Luckily i backup some of my info a couple of week ago.
Thank you and I'll gladly appreciate your help!!

Not really the point. (though you could have been a little more polite, Xplorer :P)
There are a vast different number of reasons why a PC might not boot, and they are invariably caused by different issues which are specific to the individual. While it's possible you have the same exact problem as the owner of this thread, it is much more tidy (and in fact, forum rules) to keep separate issues separate. If you start your own thread, you will help keep the discussion clear as to whose problem we're dealing with. Trying to solve multiple people's problems at once in the same thread can be confusing at times.
Hope that makes sense

After reading Sams response you continue to make a snide remark? Surley after Sams explanation it should be realized I had no intentions of being rude, mearly trying to help you. Im sure I could atleast aid in solving the problem, but an attitude like that, when I was not rude to you in anyway, will not get you any help from me. Its not a smart idea to make remarks to some one when there trying to help you.

Agreed. You might not see what you put as rude, but it can easily be construed as a general 'GTFO, not your thread' remark. There is an efficient way to phrase things, and there is a polite way to phrase things. A lot of people don't take kindly to the former, that's something you get used to on forums after a while...
