I got a Q9550 @ 4Ghz, UD3R motherboard, 4 gigs of corsair XMS2 RAM, 7 Case fans and 4 HDDs (74 gb Raptor, WD Green TB, WD caviar 750 and seagate barracuda TB) anyways Im runnung all this with a 3650 (my 4870 died) and a corsair 550VX,and was wondering could this same PSU power a 5850 or 5870 with all these drives? or do I need to upgrade? (this could be the difference between a 5870 and a 5850)

I suspect you should be fine. The 5850 should draw less power then your 4870 did.

Really? so a 5870 should only be a small addition in terms of consumption right? I really want a 5870 over a 5850 but dont want to buy a new psu.

Corsair units are quite efficient so you should be fine.
If it was a 550 rubbish PSU then you may have problems.

Yeah, I know about corsair psu's to be worth more than their wattage, just wanted to make sure that with my 4-5 HDDs could I still run a 5870.

A 550VX could run that PC almost twice over. A 4Ghz Q9550 with 4 HDDs and an HD4870 will use around 380W at a.c. [230V] so typically 310-320W at DC. Upgrade to an HD5850 and you'll be looking at around 400AC / 330DC. An HD5870 and perhaps 440AC / 350DC tops. Even a 450W VX could run the 5870 with ease, let alone the 550.

The souls of those who buy inefficient PSU's and say "But it's rated at 1000W why is it full of catastrophic failure and my house on fire?"

Rosewill aren't even the worst, nowhere near it.
I had to replace a PSU in my housemate's system this weekend, he had a Coolermaster iGreen 430W which suddenly failed. No fireworks, but after only 3 months, not that impressive. Replaced with a Corsair VX 450W, for maximum future upgrade potential.

Up to you. If you want lower noise load operation and lower temperatures (even though it makes little difference) buy the Vapor-X.

Ok. I just saw the vapor-x reviews werent as good as the regular and wanted to see if anything was really wrong with it.

I fail to see why, unless there is an inherent problem with the Vapor-X cooler. Probably people who buy such cards are more picky about potential driver issues with ATI cards in general, rather than it being the fault of the card itself.

Neweeg reviews? You cant always trust the feedback on Neweeg. It's worth reading through them to an extent, but not worth putting all your faith in. Check benchmark sites to. The Vapor-X is very nice and so is the fan. I can run my fan at over 50% with almost no noticeable sound increase on my 4890 Vapor-X. My NVIDIa 9800GTX+ was very noticeable at 50%. If you dont mind the noise, crank the fan up to 100% and watch your temps drop about 7-10*C. At 50% I noticed about a 5*C drop in my GPU temp.
