Hey guys,

i recently jailbroke my iphone with black rain and everything was going peachy.... then suddenly it decided to go into safe mode... the lock screen has a 'sad iphone' picture and the background of the main screen is grey. at the top it says 'exit safe mode' when i click on it a notice comes up and it says:
sorry for the inconvienience but springboard has just crashed.#mobilesubstrate did not cause this problem it has protected you from it.

your device is now running in safe mode all extentions that support this safety system are disabled.
reboot or restart springboard to return to normal mode.

i tried clicked restart and it just goes back to the the home screen without any change.

the phone works normally... ie can txt phone and all apps work

i have tried uninstalling rock, and reinstalling rock 'rock didnt install the second time'

please help its starting to really get on my tits...

p.s im not very technical minded so please make all suggestions simple

thanks in advance :-)

You need to find out what OS version you are running like if its 3.1.2?

Go to Settings > General > About and it should tell you in there (Version).

I have never come across this safe mode thing so maybe you have installed something through cydia or rock?

Ok hopefully this isnt a new iphone 3GS as some of the new ones have a bootrom that make you re jailbreak your phone everytime the phone is rebooted.

As there is a new version out now (3.1.3 i think it is) you cant restore it through itunes as it will update to this version and give you issues for re jailbreaking so you need to go here:

http://www.stateofthesceneaddress.com/20...3-1-2-firmware/ and download the iphone firmware that is correct for your model and then open up itunes (make sure you have backed up everything in itunes/phone contacts etc as it will wipe everything on your phone) then connect your phone and while holding shift click restore and restore with the firmware you have just downloaded and then you will need to re jailbreak your phone with blackra1n.

GoodLuck

Hope this helps

Two little problems with this:
1) Don't get your software from the link provided above. It's got stuff in it you do not want. Better to have the actual release software you can acquire here: http://www.iphonefirmware.com/firmwares-download/

2) Mac users: holding the shift key while clicking "restore" does absolutely NOTHING. Mac users must hold the OPTION key down when clicking "restore."
