Also, my dad also has an iphone 3gs but he accidently updated to firmware 3.1.3, is there currently anyway of jailbreaking an iphone 3gs on 3.1.3?
Thanks

From what I have read...... there is no JB / unlok for the 3.1.3 if your baseband is 5.12.01, although there are rumours one is in developement as we speak
Sit and wait I am afraid
I too am waiting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes i've turned off my iphone many times, and i can confirm it is definitely only a tethered hack. Did you not think i'd try? Blackra1n didn't untether hack my iphone 3gs

Okay, thanks. How did you restore your iphone to 3.1.2? When you restored it did you not have to restore it to 3.1.3?

Basically, if you hold down shift then click restore you can choose a ispw file to restore to, you must however have the ispw recovery file and have a non mc model 3GS, for your dads situation, he can now jailbreak 3.1.3 with "sn0wbreeze" or "redsn0w".

So will sn0wbreeze and redsn0w both jailbreak my dad's iphone? despite it being one of the newest 3gs? (i've read somewhere that if you have a new iphone 3gs with a newer baseband or bootrom then the new jailbreaks won't work?)
