Stupid Questions re transfer of photos to Iphone

I have managed to jailbreak my iphone 3g and unlocked it
I am using the T-mobile uk network.

How the hell do you transfer photos from the PC to the iphone?
Searched high and low but no answers.

When I go into Itunes on the PC it says sim card inserted does not appear to be supported.

Am i doing something very stupid that should be obvious cause at the moment it is not obvious to me LOL.

Also what video file formats are supported.
