Connecting and setting up a VPN in Android

I want to connect my Droid Incredible to connect to my home VPN. When I try to connect to the VPN with the phone, I am unsure what to enter into the field "DNS Search Domain", so I continue without it. I enter my username and password for the phone that I set up on my PC, it "Connects" for about 3 minutes, and then notifies me that it couldn't connect. I'm assuming the information I put into the phone and PC for the VPN is incorrect. I am unsure how to set it up correctly.
