Typing suggestion feature lost on LG Optimus 3d

Hi, I have an LG Optimus 3D, I recently did an update and appear to have lost the typing word suggestion feature. Before the update (now on 2.2.2) when I was typing a bar appeared showing what I had typed and a list of words which it thought i meant. this has now disapeared, the auto correction still works but i can no longer see word suggestions. I have checked through the settings but cant find it, I have word correction and suggestion turned on but no joy.

Any help will be very much appreciated.
