I'm trying to burn a movie to DVD. The video file is MP4 and the subtitle track I want is an SRT file. The movie plays perfectly fine on my PC, but when I copied the movie to disc and played it back on my TV, the subtitles weren't there. I'm sure I'm screwing up somewhere. So my question is how do I copy this movie and subtitles to a disc that can be viewed on the television?
Thank you.

You're converting it to DVD movie format to play on a standalone player?
Do the subs show up when selected during playback of the burned disk on the PC?
What authoring program are you using?

In DVD Flick it's 'Add title..' then 'Edit title..' then browse to and select the .srt file (if the video and .srt files are in the same folder, the .srt file is picked up automatically).

Yes, that's what I'm trying to do.

Yes. But when I play the disc in the DVD player and watch it on TV, the subtitles don't appear and there isn't any option to make them appear.

So selecting 'Subtitle' or 'Display' or whatever you normally use on the remote does nothing?

That's correct.
I just downloaded and installed DVD Flick and am creating a disc now. I think it may be the solution. Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep you posted.

Well, I burned a dvd with DVD Flick, (took about 90 minutes). Popped it into the DVD player and. . .nothing. Just a message that said "There is a problem with the disc".

This last disc didn't play on the PC, either.

Ninety minutes to burn the disk or ninety minutes total to convert the video and burn the disk?

DVD Flick saved the output to a folder;does that folder play back OK?

Was the disk burned using ImgBurn (included with the DVD Flick package).
Was the disk burned at a moderate - not maximum - speed.
What brand of disks are used.

In DVD Flick, in Project settings > Video - was it set for NTSC (North America) or PAL (EU and Australasia).
