is there anyway that i can convert ntsc vhs tapes to dvd pal

The simple way to convert VHS tapes to disks is to use a dvd recorder.
The output from the tape deck is fed to the input of the recorder.

AFAIK( from what my extended family say) a PAL standalone DVD player will play a burned NTSC disk without the need to convert it to PAL format.
The problem is that some commercial tapes have Macrovision protection which most recorders honour thus you have to have a device which goes between the deck and the recorder to remove the Macrovision signal (not all commercial tapes have it).
