i know what you are talking about, but i have yet to determine the cause, but the discs never seem to be damaged.

Your sure it is the Disk Drive, because the Power Supply (Power Brick) can get noisy on the Slims too. Mine makes a Loud Grinding Noise, which when it first happened, made me think it was the dish drive, until it happended more often, and I found out it was that. Have to send that in for replacement.

I do need to confirm, is this the same Xbox as the one you previously posted about;
