I still have a couple of memorex dvd+r dl but i heard that we should only use verbs.
Is this true?
I have all my originals disc and i don't play this box online.

try n see. I've seen lots of guys claiming that their none-verbatims burned games run just fine. Memorex is actually a pretty good brand. No reason why you can't still use them.

I think memorex are pretty good for the price and out of a 50 pack not 1 coaster.
I have a benq and my bro has a lite-on he can't play memorex but i can.
Also i read that a weak laser MIGHT BE the problem with memorex disc not reading in some systems

It's got nothing at all to do with the laser.. it's down to the shoddy quality of the disks and some drives being capable of reading them whereas others refuse. I still find it incredible after all these years people still ask this dumbass question.. yes some burner/disk spool combinations will make readable disks, for a time.. but it's pure pot luck. Samsung made lovely 8x disks.. beauts.. Optodisk never a fail, 16x are crap.. 90% fail rate.. reason?.. cmc-mag same as memosux!!!

ive burnt 28dvds sucessfully (the rest are still blank) out of a 50pack using cheap dvd-rs that say imc on the disc.ive got verbatim cd-rs says imc (australiasia) pty ltd on the pack and made in taiwan.the verbatims have more write problems than the cheap ones for me anyway.never used memorex personally seeing as they have a bad rep on afterdawn,did see them on sale in todays junkmail.
custom built gaming pc from early 2010,ps2 with 15 games all original,ps3 500gbs with 5 games all original,yamaha amp and 5.1channel surround sound speakers,46inch sony lcd smart tv.

I burned Just Dance 3 to a Memorex DL disc and it is working perfectly. My drive is a BenQ drive using LT 2.0.

Yes it is i have been using them for 3 years now with out any problems... Now the only down fall that i can think of with Memorex is that they make the lasers go out a little faster but i would rather buy a new laser for 7 dollars than spend an extra dollar on EACH verb disc...

I use Verbatim or Memorex. Never burned a coaster with either brand. My Plextor Blu-Ray burner is almost two years old. It's really just a Pioneer without any available firmware up updates since it was released. Really no need for me to update in the first place. It's worked flawlessly since day one. I don't believe Verbatim or Memorex make their own optical disks in the first place.

Same here, I've burned about 300-350 Rex's and only about 3 coasters. But that by no means makes it a good brand (read up on it).

I've burned hundreds of Memorex, and hundreds of TDK, and other CADs that boot flawlessly. Success rate of the CADs is not the issue.

My daughter runs her Gears of War 3 from a Memorex and it is working perfectly (as do all of her Memorex, TDK, Maxell, Aone, and other CADs). Again, the success rate of the burn of CADs is not the issue.

CAD = Cheap Ass Disc.
I use CADs simply because I get them for free. I don't use them on my own personal console. Only my daughter's console, because 1: her console has crazy reading issues, and 2: she is very rough & abrasive when handling discs which means re-burning and re-burning.
It doesn't matter the brand of CAD, whether it's Memorex, TDK, Imation, Sony, Maxell, Aone, etc, etc, etc, ALL brands CAN be used for burning 360 games.
ONE of the reasons we say use Verbatim is because of manufacturing quality.
Verbatim manufactures their R+DLs themselves, and makes them all identical. So if you burn one, and bur it correctly, and it works, then they will always work (if your variables are the same). This is why noobs are told to use Verbs.
On the other hand, Memorex (and other CADs) outsource to the cheapest bidder. What that simply means is that Memorex will have Ritek will press discs for them. Then have Ricoh press for a while because they undercut Ritek's price, and then go to Billy Bob down the street because he will do it even cheaper than both Ritek & Ricoh. That means there are at least three different version of the "same" Memorex disc out there.
So when you burn a Memorex 50 pack successfully, and the next "identical" pack produce fail after fail after fail, it's because the disc has discrepancies in materials to used make, because the same CAD company didn't make it. But the person posting the problem will say "but I always use these with no errors". This is why noobs are told to use Verbs, and switch to CADs, if they'd like after having success.
That, my friends, is just one of many many many reasons we suggest Verbs. And yes, there are many.
