I just purchased a 32" HD Tv and xbox slim.I was given a HDMI lead for pc so i tried it and the picture was hd but i wasnt getting any sound. Is there any way i can get sound?

That doesn't make sense. HDMI will carry video and audio. Not to sound dumb, but everything is unmuted and turned up? Check your connections. Could be a bad cable. Try another port on the TV
