Hi there,

Ive got myself consfused nad going round in circles,


I had this xbox which was bought rrod but that got sorted very easily. The other problem I had was the Lens died for which I bout a replacement lens and then got a replacement drive also.

This has got me confused due to starting and not getting it fixed.

The stated that I am in now is that I have 1 drive that I have got spinning up, but dont know if it is the correct PCB, It spins up and and says play dvd when an actual gameis inserted.

The other drive when put back together and say open tray and also there i no red light coming front he actual laser.

please help me get unconfused.

open tray = bad laser. The DVD drive and motherboard are married. You cannot simply throw a drive in a random console or it will only ever be a DVD player. You must dump the FW from the ORIG drive and spoof it to the new drive for it to work. when you install a new laser, you must remove the static point for that to work as well. You can test your drive with the cover off and see if the laser lights up red for testing.
