ok, so i have been converting my whole dvd collection to my pc and downloading bluray to replace some of my action/sci fi movies.
Since i started replacing with blue ray rips my question is this, what format can i convert an MKV and MP4 file to that WILL keep the 5.1 sound intact?
i've used several programs to convert them but they all come out 2channel stereo.
Also i've noticed on some of my older 80's movies that were only in 2channel , i can totally tell its 2channel on the xbox, as in no center speaker audio. HOwever , using gspot and mediainfo , i have several movies that say 2channel mp3 , but they sound 5.1 on xbox. I dont mean a virtual surround, i notice specifically some parts of movies sound only came from rear speakers on only left or right channel , according to the movie. That cant be virtual, plus it does the same for front channels and all dialogue comes from center. How is that possible is the file says 2channel stereo ?
downloading torrents of blueray movies(instead of ripping myself since i have dont BR drive on pc , is hit and miss as far as file types that will actually play I got the terminator series , all in mp4720p and 6channel audio and they all work great on xbox. i got the entire star trek movie series, again all in 720p 6channel audio and NONE of them work on xbox.
i've used xilisoft converter, Dvix Plus Pro , xvid4psp5 , ImTOOconverter ultimate 6 and several others..no to avail.
