RED FLASHING LIGHT

Problem:
My PS3 keeps shutting off on me and flashes red. Sometimes after an hour or two and sometimes after just five minutes. I've tried resetting, restoring, and rebuilding the file system but it still shuts off.

Does anybody have any tips that could help me fix this problem..
It's an original fat 80gb, Backwards Compatible.

ALSO, I did try jail breaking it,(and failed), some time ago. Thinking that it may be related to the problem but the RED FLASHING LIGHT began a while after.
If you could help me out, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
