Not sure why Sony did this but why now a/v yellow, white, red connections? I have a home theater system that has no HDMI connections and couldn't hook up the PS4 to my it. Was so disappointed and confused

You didn't know what ports it had before you bought it how can that be

you may be able to get around it by using the tv to divert incoming audio signal to tv audio out which you obviously connect to sound system audio in,check rear of tv & change audio settings of tv or you may only need to use tv remote to turn volume to 0 as it may provide audio signal to all outputs

i had a look on google images and i see an optical out on it.
Not 100% sure as i don't own a ps4 but optical out should work for audio through home theater for sound.
