I've tried with, ConvertXtoDVD, ImgBurn, PowerISO and Nero..
always got a problem... :)
I had the 1.03 firmware and had same problems..
Now I have a custom one I found on the net...

How to check the DMA of the burner?
And when you say check?
it should be enabled or something?

This is the settings on both of my primary and both of my secondary IDE Channels..

So that's the log of ImgBurn!
DVD Drive make noise for a minute or more and buffer was 100%
and then I got this error

Your image from device manager seems improper,
"current transfer mode" should at least indicate an active mode.

I see this in the log:
CdRomPeripheral : Optiarc DVD RW AD-7173S atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: On
CdRomPeripheral : Optiarc DVD RW AD-7173S atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: Off
DiskPeripheral : ST3500630AS atapi Port 2 ID 1 DMA: On

Not sure why the same Optiarc shows up on port 0 and port 1.
Do you have two of them ?

Looks as if the port 1 device has DMA off, should be the device in
IDE controllers (device manager) secondary channel.

Does the problem occur if you write at 8x?

What about different media?

Have you tried Imgburn instead of Nero ?

Has this drive ever worked?

Insanity = Doing the Same Thing Over and Over Again and Expecting Different Results.

Use better Media (Verbatims)
Burn at 1/2 the Rated Speed of the Blank Media.
Change Target Area to 4300mbs.
Firmware Update http://www.firmwarehq.com/Optiarc/AD-7173S/files.html

Burn with Imgburn

Also check the DMA of the burner

again.. berryone said use different media...you did dvd-rw...which in turn backs up the issue off speed...i dought very much if the drive would allow you to burn any faster than 4x-6x
you then went back to those ****

Hello there :)
Nero didn't allowed me to change Speed or any settings, even DVD's Name :)........

http://www.sony-optiarc.eu/de/produkte/a...cs/ad7173s.html

it allows me to burn to x16... even the MEDIA Says x16...
I have tried on x2 too but nothing happened again :P
Windows 7 ISO Burning utility says that the media is not blank...:|

Download Imgburn Here:

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_so...ols/imgburn.cfm

IT is Free. It WILL let you Change The SPEED of The Burn.
You DO Need To Go and Buy Different Disc Try 8X -R Verbatims
Burn at 4X. Maybe Someone In EU can Tell you Where to Get the Discs.

(Just Because You Have a Car That will Go 120 MPH doesn't mean You Should Drive It at Max Speed)

If You Tried Everything That Was Suggested and Still it Doesn't work Then REPLACE the Drive.

But I'll Bet Dollars to Doughnuts If You Checked the MID Code Of The RWs And The -Rs They Would Be From Different Manufactures.
