dvd drive going bad?

Ok so I have been burning dvds for awhile, Ive never came acrossed this problem. My problem is I burns movies on maxwell dvd-rs using convertxtodvd. Today I dont know what it was but after i burnt about 5 movies in a row after i burned them and played them on my computer the words to the movies wasnt working there was no words just music and sounds of bombs blowing or swords hitting etc. etc.. but no words. so i threw away 6 disc and then decided to play the 6 disc on my laptop for shits and giggles. and they play just fine on my laptop but did not work on both dvd drives on my deskstop. Can it be my dvd drives on my desktop are going bad or the maxwell disc are just a piece of crap? any help with this process please? I dont understand why they played like crap on my deskstop but just fine on my laptop? If they play fine on my laptop does this mean they will play fine in a regular dvd player? I dont have a dvd player to test this.

It sounds more like the audio settings on your desktop PC have changed or your centre speaker is disconnected.

Hm not sure? I dont ever change the sound. I use a surround sound for my speakers for my computer and I can listen to music or watch rar files or avi files or you tube videos etc etc just fine. But once I burn a movie and play it, it messes up and It didnt do it every time last night. I burned lke 7 movies I think and 5 out of the 7 sounded mess up but played just fine on my laptop. 2 of the movies worked fine on my desktop.
