My LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1L BL01 (ATA) drive will not recognize any blank DVDs or CDs. When a blank DVD or CD is placed in the drive, the icon for the drive in My Computer changes from ram.cfm" class="forum_link" target="_blank">DVD-RAM drive to CD drive. It changes back when the blank media is removed. I tried burning a DVD with Nero 9 and it went through the entire process. When the DVD was tried in a DVD player, it remained blank. The drive does not run while Nero is performing the burn. Any help with this problem would be appreciated. I have provided the information for DVD Decrypter in ISO mode.

That's normal behaviour (in my XP machine using Explorer).
I would download ImgBurn and opt to 'Write file/folders to disk'
Drag a data file into the window and check the 'Test' box for a simulated burn.
Insert a DVD-R and proceed to burn.
The drive should activate and ImgBurn is now communicating with the burner (except the laser is off).
If the test/simulation is ok (check the log under 'Help') repeat with the 'Text' box unchecked.
Since I haven't used Nero for a long time - and hoping that someone with current experience of the program steps in - I might suggest that if you want to try to get the burning step working, that you download the Nero General Clean Tool to remove the current installation (saving your serial numbers first) then do a re-install.
Optionally, since ImgBurn can replace Nero in the burning line, you can have Nero output to the HDD and let ImgBurn do the burning.
