is there a way i can copy vts files to ext hard drive so i can watch them on my dvd player thru the usb port on the dvd player

What DVD player do you have?

If it is a Divx certified plater, then you can convert the movies to AVI(Divx) and transfer them to your HDD. otherwise, you'd need something that supports mpeg2 playback off an USB source...

yes my dvd player does handle divx so how do i convert to divx
