I have backed up a DVD onto my hard drive.

In VLC, rather than the menu (standard for me), playing the disc brings up the main feature.

At first I thought it had no menu, until I right-clicked the playback area and selected "Title" >> "DVD Menu". I was taken to the menu, as it had always existed.

What I would like to do is change the playback so that, rather than the main feature, playing the disc brings up the menu (standard for me).

How can I most simply do that?

I have been using PgcEdit to do various things to other titles. Is that required here or is there a simpler method?

Thanks!

In the Preferences, is the 'DVD with menu' selection, set to open with the menu - else it will jump to the main title.

That quite good and that does work in VLC.

Unfortunately, that method wouldn't work in any other.

It wouldn't work with someone's DVD player.

What I would like is for playback to not start with the feature, but with the menu.

Again, I have been using PgcEdit to make changes in the structures of other discs. Is that going to be needed or is there something simpler that can be done?

Thanks.

Sorry, I didn't deduce that was the problem from the original post.

Well PgcEdit seems to do so much that I am sure that it could just change a number or a setting and that would be it.

The trouble is that I am still learning that software and only really as I go, so the answer is probably right in front of me.

Either that or there is something else that could do the job.

Thanks anyway.

Try DFab 6, it has various functions. such as customize. I believe you Can also Make it Jump to Menu upon inserting the New Burnt Disc.

It's a very good and Fun Program with a full free trial period.

That switch is embedded somewhere in the files that define the DVDs behavior. Since it is settable in DVD authoring programs, if you could identify the parameter, you could likely edit the parameter and change the DVDs behavior.

I don't know if you would have to completely reauthor the DVD, but if you wanted a disc that behaved differently, I'm sure that you'd have to re-author and re-burn.

In TmpEng DVD Author, this option can be set before creating the DVD.

You can change playback behavior with PgcEdit by using the macro "Jump to PGC upon DVD insert".

DvdFab6's Jump to Menu routine is not foolproof. It won't work on some DVDs.
