I know the recommended software is DVD Decrypter. But as long as you have a properly ripped ISO or even the properly ripped video_ts folder, then wont any burning software do the job? Or does the software need to be DVD specific? Thanks.

Ummmmm, I'm not sure what you mean by you know the recommended software is DVD Decrypter, as one of the best burning programs is imgburn.

And, yes....if it is a movie you are talking about, than just about any burning software will do.

As rtm says, you might be a bit behind, ImgBurn is the grand daddy of burning engines.
I don't know if I would trust about "any" burning software to do the job. Not if you want to be able to booktype, or need a reliable software that can handle a layer break properly...Why even try to use something else, when the best is available for free?

Thanks! Yeah to clarify, I was just wondering if when you burn would the program need to know your burning a DVD just like you need to when burn a bootable disk. But It sounds like you are saying as long as it's ripped good than it's just like burning any data disk. [just one who's data will be recognized by a DVD player]

thanks again

Most players will probably play the DVD if burned as a data with a Video_Ts folder properly structured in the root directory, but there are probably some picky one's that will not, unless the disc is burned to certain ISO specifications and all that, like DVD Video(I really don't know the lingo).

I pretty much had the same question,Im Still trying to find the answer out for myself kinda...Well so far from what i can tell, there doesnt seem to be a difference...What my question was,IS when i burn a dvd from a ISO (Example, when you shrink a dvd with dvd shrink, and set the output file to ISO) and then burn with a program,That burns ISO`s...Say...Cyberlink`s "Power2Go".... Where all you have too do is just double click the ISo icon...Set the burn speed and burn the dvd...I Was wondering if doing that process makes the dvds any different than say burning the dvds with Nero Recode....or setting dvd shrink to burn with nero..
((I Dont have the newest version of nero))
I Dont think my burner on my hpDV6 notebook can booktype anyway..So,i havent made that a big issue...
Well...all my backups seem to play fine,So i guess i see no reason too stop what im doing...I Did make the mistake of useing bad media in the past...long story there...Lets just say the people on here that encourage you too use better media, well they are correct..i dont use TY`s..But i use Verbatim media and it does work well...
anyway thats all i had too say lol..

There's no difference. You burn an image to disc when you double click the ISO.Powe2go is similar to Nero when it comes to burning.

Depending on drive and media, ImgBurn and DVD Decrypter are the same program.

Newer drives, DVD+R DL media, best to use ImgBurn.

LightningUK! made both programs.
