I prefer Media Monkey the next best is WinAmp and have never tried XION. Foobar is for the audiophiles.

The best player is very subjective. They all get played through your audio card and most use the same software (dlls) to play the actual music. Your perceived value will be the interface and what tools it has that you use.

I have an extreme music library. I prefer Media Monkey because it is probably the best for extremely large collections. It uses a SQL engine to handle vast libraries. You can view your library as it is organized on your disks(s) if you like. It also will run custom routines to do what ever. They have one forum just for making/using VB scripts.

If you check out the top post (sticky) most of the way down there are links to reviews of audio management systems. Again MM and WA came out on top. I would install a few and decide later. I alternate between WA and MM. Both do some things better than the other and they do not interfere with each other.
