I use Vista 32bit.
I have multiple burning software programs that all work fine with DVD burning. Be it straight DVD or avi's etc.
The same software also burns audio cd's as well.
The problem is the DVD/CD rom drive locks up at the end of an audio burn. I have to reboot to open the drive. All the programs give the impression that the CD burn hasn't finalised and therefore won't open the drive until completion. Problem is the finalisation never completes and the drive remains locked up till I reboot. The discs have infact finalised and play fine.
Whenever I burn DVD's with the same software, I never have this problem. Everything burns and the tray ejects on completion. For some reason an audio burn won't seem to finalize and eject at the end even though the audio disc is complete and working.
I've used singular audio burning software as well, but same problem.

Mine does that intermittently for years. It gets confused and tries to close when it should be opening. There is a small hole below the tray. Get a paper clip and push it into the hole. It is easier if you try while it is trying to open and it will pop open. Other times it is really trying to close and you have to push hard enough to over power the motor. When that happens, you grab the tray as soon as you can and yank it open. It is a software/OS issue so it has nothing to do with the hardware (I thing). It is not a big deal.
