copying mini dvd to edit

I have a Sony mini dvd recorder. I want to edit this dvd for a a You Tube segment. I have finalized the dvd. What is the best program to use to do this ? My mac does not accept the mini dvd in the dvd drive so I can use a program to copy to my hard drive help ! Ed

You might also post a query like this on the mac forum or a video editing forum. I do edit videos from time to time but I don't remember the software I use, which was not free and probably doesn't run on a Mac. This is an audio forum.

Hint do not use the same title. I suspect you will need to use a PC to do the copying.

What were you thinking when you bought a cam corder that out puts to a mini DVD when you own a Mac?
