I'll try not to confuse myself as I type this......

I just bought an HP 2509m LCD Monitor and Sylvania NB530SLX Blu-ray player. The monitor has built in speakers and a standard 3.5mm audio jack, DVI and HDMI inputs. I will be hooking up my PC via the DVI input, and the Blu-ray player via the HDMI input. However, I also want to hook up my 4.1 speakers to the Blu-ray / monitor setup independent of the PC instead of using the speakers on the monitor. The Blu-ray player has the following connections available:

HDMI Output: 1
Component Video Output: 1
Composite Video Output: 1
RCA Audio Output (L+R): 1
Digital Audio Output (Coaxial): 1
Digital Audio Output (Optical): 1
SD Memory Slot: 1

My 4.1 speakers have two 3.5mm connectors; one for the 2 front speakers and one for the 2 rear speakers. Since the Blu-ray player will be connected to the monitor using the HDMI cable, does that mean I will not be able to hook my speakers into any other audio outputs on the Blu-ray player, and therefore must hook into the single 3.5mm jack on the monitor? If this is the case, I know there are splitters that allow two 3.5mm jacks to be hooked into a single input/output, but will that screw up the output from my speakers and make the front/rear speakers all output the same audio (loose positional audio for lack of a better term)?
