hi guys i use to be a member here just made a new account , forgot my old one haha. ok so i just recently bought a Asrock G31M-S motherboard and a 2.8dual core chip im running windows xp . i installed all the mobo drivers and everthing but i cant get my audio to work !. iv tried unistalling/re-installing iv tried EVERYTHING iv came to the point that i believe the computer store who looked at my computer messed up my on-board sound chip is that possible ? please help ! i need to game !!!!

It is likely it is a hardware issue. The on board sound cards are not all that reliable. It may have been bad from the get go. Either return it or you can try switching the cards plugged in to your mobo. That sounds crazy but some times that helps. Even if that works you still might concider taking it back. Your mobo is marginal.

Build your own PC may have more expertise hear but I can tell you for sure your mobo is defective.

are you serious !!! , i was having a problem where my monitor and keyboard wouldnt power on so i bought a new ASUS motherboard and had the same problem so i returned the mobo and bought a new processor and now its working fine besides the audio.. my audio was working before i had my monitor problem

Have you done any basic troubleshooting,
such as checking the device manager for a status code ?

iv done everything troubleshooting, drivers, but still keep gettin "no mixer device"

OK, but have you specifically expanded the "sound, video and game
controllers" branch in the device manager ?

What do you see ?

Here's another thing to try. Enter msinfo32 from the RUN box and press
enter. Expand components/sound device.

Anything in the Right-side pane ?
