I thought I had found the proper CD Maxell CD-R music) for burning music after many trials and errors, but alas I was wrong. I burned a music disk that played ok in 3 cd players. 2 of the players are vintage late 80's, early 90's. The 3rd player is in our 2008 car.

I burned another disk with different song tracks, but it will only play in the car player. Why? It's the same type disk, same Windows Media Player, etc. Any suggestions?

It dawned on me to try and play it in our DVD player. Problem solved! The CD player is 1990's vintage, so that was the real cause.

I was also having problems with burning a photo cd on my desk top to use on a lap top we use as a digital picture frame. After 8 or 10 failures I went to Kim Komando's web site and downloaded "CD Burner XP" (free) which solved the problem. I have not tried it yet to see if it solves the music disk problem that I was having.

Older players may not be engineered to read burned disks. Burned disks are not as reflective as the pressed disks. Newer players use a more powerful laser so they can play burned CDs. I do not think media matters like it does with DVDs.

For audio, MediaMonkey, an audio manager has the best burn routine by far. It is simple and does a great job. It has a free version.

Older CD players have a harder time reading 700mb CDRs, try using 650mb CDRs and burning them at the lowest speed you can burn with your burner. This might help make the discs more compatible and work with most CD players

Because the tracks are so wide you can burn CDs very slow. You have to be careful with DVDs burn them too slow and the burn pits can be so big they 'bleed' into the next track.
