I have a bunch of recordings from my satellite that are in MPEG-TS format. I would like to convert them to something that is more compatible and has a smaller file size. The recordings are only in standard definition. I am using Aimersoft Ultimate to convert the files to MP4, but the resulting files are either poor quality, or very large file size (larger than the original file). I have seen people compress HD movies into MP4's around 1.5-1.75GB. How can I achieve small MP4's with image quality close to the original source?

HandBrake can open .ts files and output mp4.
