Burning bought dvds to blank dvds

I'm trying to figure out why I can't seem to burn dvds anymore. I was using dvd shrink, Dvd Fab, Dvd 43, couple of others off and on. Dvd shrink never responds now, Dvd43 crashes my pc, Dvdfab scans the dvd then doesn't respond. These are either bought dvds or from friends that i want copies of. All I want to do is rip it then burn it without buying a program or two. I know it can be done b/c I've copied hundreds ,but now can't seem to spit one out. Some insight would be appreciated. Please Help!!
