Tried to copy a dvd it copies when I try to burn no matter what brand of media I put in an error says not writable media? (windows 7)

moved to correct forum. is that a dvd burner not a dvd rom or a combo drive that is a cd burner & dvd rom?

you have a combo drive so can only burn cd's not dvd's.

I checked it again under computer it calls it a DVD RW Drive!

Download and run ImgBurn.
Click 'Write files/folders to disc'.
Click 'Tools' > 'Drive Capabilities' and verify that there are checkmarks in the 'Write' section for DVD.
Click 'Tools' > 'Drive' > 'Check for firmware update's.
Note the firmware version and let it try to find an update.
If no update found, go to the HP site and search for a firmware update.

What brand of blank DVD are you using.
