I am using tw cable road runner internet service which is supposed to provide me with up to 10 mb/s down. However I am only able to get 2.79 right now. I have seen some explanations that say it depends on how far you live from the hub, but my next door neighbor isn't having this problem at all. Both houses are using the exact same set up.

Set up:
Internet: Road Runner
Cable modem: motorola surfboard sb5105
Router: Asus rt-n56u gigabit router
cables are all roughly about the same length. I'm not having a problem with latency. It's running between 29 and 64 ms ping rates

I tried talking to Time Warner but they just brushed me off saying that they were sending me the same Internet speeds, (which I believe to be true), but something has obviously gone wrong here. Any help on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.
