cjpopp Then Maybe you should be Cleaning them ? as Dirty Disc will Often not play properly ! I use and Recommend A radial Cleaner ! Get the Type that has a Round O shaped Pad { The pad will Look like a Thick Letter O ) IF it has a Bean or Kidney shaped Pad avoid it as this type will scratch your disc !!! For a claeaning solution I use 91% isopropyl Alcohol this seems to work really good and as a bonus if you label your dvd's with sharpie pens and you mess up your label you can remove the Sharpie pen ink with it and a soft Cloth/ piece of Tissue paper ect! Provided you don't wiat to long of course !!! And as to brand of Radial cleaner well I'd get whichever you can find as type is more important than Brand !!! hope this helps ? Got Verbatim DVD-R's made in India tonight. Did the burn at 4x. Same result.
Should I get the Taiyo Yuden Value DVD-R 8x 100-pack now and try that? I gotta say I'm starting to get burned out on buying different media and it not working.

The Windata + & - R is reject Verbatim. Some recorders & players don't do very well with it. Same with Windata +R DL which is rejected Ritek media. My Samsung DVD burner in the computer as well as my Magnavox DVD recorder does ok however sometimes a disc won't finalize or messes up during recording. To me it's sub standard media that I don't use anymore. Basically about 10% of the discs in the packs I've used are unusable. The rest recorded & played back fine. So yes it's junk media....
Test 1:
Took The Saint, which I had bought in 2002 and made an ISO and then burned Verbatim disc using ImgBurn. Disc was playable just fine.
Initial speculation is that the original disc was single layer.
Test 2:
Windata copy of Twilight would not play well. Got the pixel "stop-start" issue. Copy was made with DNC Standard.
Took that copy of Twilight and made an ISO. Then burned Iso using ImgBurn to a Verbatim disc. Got the pixel "stop-start" playback on Insignia Blu-Ray player. Played copy on PC just fine.
Next test is to get new copy of Twilight from Redbox and make fresh ISO instead of going from WinData DVD Burn to Verbatim DVD Burn.
Thought is that perhaps there was a problem with the original burn so the problem was just moved from one disc to another.
Other thought is that the original was a dual layer DVD and when compressing to single-layer there was something lost or changed that made the issue arise.
Test 3:
Made ISO of "Little Mermaid 2" from Netflix using DVD Shrink to fit to a single layer DVD. Burned disc with ImgBurn.
