Those discs are 8X DVD+R DL discs that use a different manufacturing method known as inverse stack. If your DL drive has firmware allowing it to record IS DL discs, then you will probably find Ritek/Maxell quality to be excellent. If your drive does not recognize IS media-- and if it is rated at DL speeds slower than 8X, it won't--then you will not get good recordings no matter how good your drive or your discs. They are simply incompatible.

That's exactly what mine do.. some are fine and some are poor. The bad ones were just trouble straight off.. I don't take that much notice what layer I'm burning on.. I just burn the damn things and they either work or not.

BTW .. I'm probably more member than most people you will get answers off.. except Joe.. our resident dvd guru xxxx

Yes, Verbatim and Emtect did great job. emtect are not so great layer, but I had one spindle of 45 all those burns very good. Without any problems. But Maxell layer are really poor someone once burn very good, after some few finalise he not correctly to 100 % till 95 % I have 8 to go, never buy thise one anymore.

I've found that Ritek 8x +R DL's (in my burner) do just fine at 8x Other brands using Ritek +R DL media are a different story. Memorex & Maxell usually do good at 8x however I get better results (& no coasters) with both of these at 4x. Windata +R DL's (also Ritek) have to be burned at 4x & don't do good at all at 8x. Honestly Verbatim is the better media.....
