GWA-4082N DVD drive not being recognized

The gateway laptop had juice spilled on the laptop. The dvd drive spins and the light comes on but there is no drive in file explorer or it doesnt show up in device manager and it doesnt play anything.

Is there a cable that I can get that would allow me to plug it into another computer or laptop to test it and see if its good. Some sort of conversion cable that goes from the back of the drive (which is an internal drive) to the usb port.

Im trying to avoid buying a new internal drive for that laptop if the problem is the board on the laptop and not the drive itself.
