I've been running on FCMB and HDAdvance for a while now (say 2 months maybe) and it was working without any hitches until now.
The problem occurs during (and JUST during) the save-load sequences (dunno the appropriate terminology, so forgive me). On random times when I select which game save I want to overwrite/load, it hangs on me. Also it's sort of inconsistent, as I can save perfectly for a while and then it just hangs a few attempts later. I have a few ideas on what could possibly be causing this, but I need other's opinions and thoughts as well.
1.) HDD - I use HDAdvance since it's the only thing that runs on my current hard drive. It's either HDA or the drive itself that's causing this.
2.) Memory card - they're legit Sony one's. I tried saving/loading files from the one without fcmb bootup in it and also in the one with the fcmb (as it could probably be the cause). No luck, it still hangs at some point.
3.) The game itself (?) - the game in question is Persona 3 and Persona 4. Only problem is I've finished Persona 4 clocked with over 100 hours without any problems before, and it's just recently that it hangs at random times during save/load sequences.
So yeah, thoughts anyone? I'd really really REALLY appreciate opinions as it's getting frustrating going thru a whole dungeon and find a save point, only to have the game hanging on you during the save. T__T Thanks!

Sounds like the memory slot might be getting worn out or dirty...you could try sliding a thin piece of carboard between the card and the top of the slot to see if this help matters.

Aaaaah..so far it has survived almost 12 hours of continuous gaming before it dies..Thankees! ^___^ It really IS with the memory card slots..
Anywho, d'you think that putting the memory card into a 4-way splitter connected to the first slot solve the problem?

Have you tried slot 2 memory port?
You can replace the controller port in the PS2 if need be. I had to a few years ago. Ebay was cheapest place I found for the 'Controller Port'

I would if I could, but the game I'm playing only scans slot 1. T___T
Yeah, guess it's time to replace the port. US10 I presume? Sadly enough, I don't have a credit card to buy one online, so I have to look for one around my place. Thanks for the heads up! ^__^

The playstation controller port looks like this

2-hole is for V2-3
3-hole is for V4-7 and V9 uses 3-hole

What version PS2 do you have. Press Triangle at the Browser or look on the back of the PS2.

It's SCPH-30001, so I think it's V3.. But from what I remember last time I opened it, I remember that I just took out 1 screw from each side.. Meh, eitherway, I'll try to see if I can even find one. Thanks again!

There is only 1 screw on each side anyway, regardless of how many holes, or at least on any I have taken apart.
Yes good luck in finding one.
